Lets be honest, most dog lovers will tell you having a pet is great year round.

But theres something lovely about spending time with mans best friend in the summer.

And now theres a really exciting place to do it – Unleashed dog park in Stoke–on–Trent which opened this weekend.

Set in stunning countryside, there is acres of space for pooches to roam freely off the lead.

The park has all the fundamentals covered, including tree stumps, tyres, tunnels and branches, providing plenty of space to crawl, climb and jump.

It's surrounded by fences and set away from the main road.

Pooches can swim in the lake (which is up to two metres deep), run through the trees and chase each other around logs and obstacles.

Jess Flint, a dog owner who struggled to find places to let her pet off lead, came up with the concept.

Speaking to Cheshire Live, she said ”We've had the land in our family for a while and it's an idea I've always had.

"I've always had dogs – my springer spaniel loves the water."

Owners will be able to book their dogs into a "socialisation session", where they can play and chase other dogs.
