Search for body parts after missing man ‘dismembered’

Detectives investigating the murder of a Derbyshire pensioner say they are "searching for body parts".

Graham Snell was reported missing on 30 June, and was last seen alive in Chesterfield town centre on 19 June, according to police.

Daniel Walsh, 29, has since been charged with the murder of the 71-year-old.

After reports that Mr Snell's body was "dismembered", police have said they are searching a small pond.

Derbyshire Police had been searching Mr Snell's property in Marsden Street as well as a property in Oakmoor Close, before extending their inquiries.

Superintendent Gareth Meadows said: "As you will be aware last week 29-year-old Daniel Walsh, of Marsden Street, Chesterfield, was charged with the murder of Graham Snell.

"Graham was a man who was well-known and well-liked in the area and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.

"Recent media reports regarding this case have revealed specific details about the investigation, including the fact that Mr Snell was dismembered."

Supt Meadows added: "Officers are currently searching for a number of Mr Snell's body parts which are currently outstanding.
