Police have arrested an 18-year-old over the alleged rape of girl inside an abandoned coastal tower known as the old windmill.
The girl, 11, was allegedly raped at around 3am on Saturday morning inside the disused building on the Isle of Portland, Dorset.
Dorset Police said today the teenage suspect – a local man – had been arrested on suspicion of rape and released on bail pending further enquiries.
A police cordon remains in place at the site and an officer stood guard for most of Saturday while forensic examinations took place.
Teams in forensic suits were seen visiting the site as detectives conducted local investigations.
Residents have been warned by the police not to speculate on social media about the incident.
Detective Sergeant Paul Chessell said: We understand there may be concern from the local community in relation to this incident but I would like to reassure members of the public that a full investigation is underway in relation to this report.

The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers and residents may see increased police activity in the area as this matter is investigated.
I would urge members of the public to refrain from speculation in relation to this incident, particularly on social media, as it could impact the ongoing investigation.
