Terrie-Ann Jones and Cllr Sheila Marsten

Cllr Marsten has been suspended for four months for comments made to taxi drivers

A Labour councillor has been suspended for telling taxi drivers the victim of a domestic murder deserved to be killed.

Sheila Marston received a four month suspension over the comments about Terrie-Ann Jones, who was stabbed 26 times by her ex-boyfriend,

Neath Town Council made the decision after an investigation by the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales.

In a statement Ombudsman Nick Bennett said: The investigation found that Cllr Marstons unsolicited comments about the victim were both disrespectful and distasteful.

He added that many citizens of Neath, Wales, believe Cllr Marston is no longer a suitable representative.

Cllr Marston lived near Ms Jones and the pair were said to have fallen out over an overgrown garden bush.

Taxi driver, Edward Vaughan John, 57, said he felt duty bound to report the councillor for the totally disgusting comments she made when he drove her home.

He said: Councillor Marston pointed out flowers that had been left at Terrie- Anns in sympathy from neighbours and friends.

Councillor Marston had a bee in her bonnet about her, I just ignored her comments until she said to myself that Terrie-Anne deserved to be murdered.
