A mum who was left for dead by the father of her child has revealed the heart breaking words her two-year-old keeps saying to her after witnessing the assault.
Jemma Palmer, 37, said her son Archie wet himself with fright after his dad Garath Ralph attacked her on August 9.
Her ex-partner flew into a fit of rage over a passing comment made by a stranger on a bus, and fractured Jemmas jaw in front of their son.
A month on, traumatised Archie keeps saying daddy beat mummy, leaving Jemma suffering sleepless nights.
She spoke out following a court case on September 9 in which Ralph was sentenced to just 16 months for the assault.
Jemma, 37, said: It should have been five years at least.
He left me for dead and he did it all in front of our son.
Archie keeps walking around saying daddy bashed mummy, and I cant sleep because of the mental impact.

I have to live with this for the rest of my life, and yet he will be out in nine months. The justice system seriously needs changing.
Jemmas list of injuries include a cut lip, severe bruising and a haemorrhage in her eye which could cause her eye sight to deteriorate.
A court heard how Ralph threatened her with a good beating after a stranger on the bus joked with her about going for a drink.
She said: Im a jokey kind of person and it was just a comment on the bus.
But when I was going to get Archies pyjamas, he turned to me and said, why dont you go s*** that guy from the bus.
I told him to stop being silly and he said to me, Youve never had a good beating before, have you?.
I said, I beg your pardon, and then he knocked me to the floor and put both of his hands around my neck and started pushing on my windpipe.
Jemma said she feared Ralph would kill her and tried reaching for the landline to call for help.
But he grabbed it off her and threw the batteries on the floor before punching her repeatedly in the face.
After launching the vicious attack, Jemma says Ralph left the house and hid her mobile phone while she was passed out
She woke up from a blackout to the sound of Archie screaming and had to scramble for the landline batteries to phone the police.
