AS BRITAIN’S coronavirus lockdown continues, with Boris Johnson expected to lay out a road map to it being eased on Sunday, the Government is seeking to introduce a new main message.

It will no longer be stay home, save lives but stay alert, control the virus, save lives. However, the slogan has been criticised with many questioning how people can stay alert for a virus which is often asymptomatic. The SNPs Westminster leader Ian Blackford tweeted: “What kind of buffoon thinks of this kind of nonsense.

“It is an invisible threat.

“Staying alert is not the answer #StayHomeSaveLives is.”

Another user mockingly wrote: “Stay alert.

“Stand by your window.

“If you see the virus, call your MP immediately.”

A third user commented: “#stayalert to an invisible, odourless, submicroscopic, lethal threat.

“Its not cybercrime, its a PANDEMIC.”

Broadcaster Tony Shepherd added: “Dont forget to take your electron microscope with you when you leave the house.”

Another Twitter user stated: “You know who are the real #COVIDIOTS?

“Anyone who thought this vague monstrosity was good messaging.

“Stay Alert? Seriously? The last slogan was to the point and memorable.”

The Department of Health and Social has confirmed 31,587 people in the UK have sadly died with the virus.
