A woman whose remains were found in two suitcases in the Forest of Dean has been named as Phoenix Netts.

Body parts belonging to the 28-year-old were discovered close to a quarry in Gloucestershire on 12 May.

Ms Netts has been named after a trial date was set for two people charged over the discovery of her remains.

Gareeca Conita Gordon, 27, from Birmingham, is charged with murdering the woman at her home address between 14 April and 12 May.

Mahesh Sorathiya, 38, of Wolverhampton, is accused of assisting Gordon between 25 April and 12 May.

Police had been alerted to the death after a member of the public reported seeing a vehicle driving erratically.

The vehicle was located a short while later and two suitcases were discovered containing human remains.

Gloucestershire Police previously said a post-mortem was inconclusive and further examinations were ongoing to establish the cause of death.

Neither defendant appeared at Bristol Crown Court where a hearing took place on Tuesday morning.

Mr Justice Garnham set a provisional trial date of 10 November and said an application to transfer the case to Birmingham Crown Court would be heard at a later stage.

The judge granted conditional bail to Sorathiya.

No application for bail was made on behalf of Gordon.

The judge said: "The background to this case are allegations of the most appalling type.

"However, this applicant's [Sorathiya] alleged involvement in these appalling alleged events relates to his transporting of the defendant Gordon to the place where she was stopped and they were arrested.

"There is no suggestion that he was involved in the alleged offence of murder itself."
