The disturbance took place on Harrow Road as police responded to reports of an “unlicensed music event”.

Police in riot gear, assisted by a helicopter, attempted to clear the scene.

Video purported to be from the scene shows a line of police in riot gear, with batons and shields, being attacked with various missiles.

One of the officers uses their baton as a crowd push against their lines.

A second video said to be from the scene shows police being stopped from moving down the street by a large group of young men.

One reveller can be heard shouting “youre not coming in” as police attempt to move forward.

Other partygoers throw various missiles at the police whilst this was taking place.

There are no reports of arrests or injuries linked to the event.

In a statement the Metropolitan police said: “Police are responding to an unlicensed music event on Harrow Road, W9.

“Officers were called to the location around 3pm following concerns from residents.

“Officers engaged with the attendees, who refused to leave the location.

“The police helicopter is also assisting.

“Following engagement within the local community we are hopeful that crowds are dispersing.

“No arrests at this stage.

“A section 60 has been authorised in the vicinity until 6am on Saturday, 27 June.

“Officers will remain in the area in order to provide reassurance.”

On Wednesday 22 police officers were injured after violent disorder broke out in Brixton when they attempted to shut down another illegal party.
