The sudden death in Gaza of youth activist, Suleiman al-Ajuri, has shone a spotlight on the issue of people in the territory taking their own lives.
According to local human rights group, Palestinian Center for Conflict Resolution, 30 people had killed themselves by the middle of 2020, and a further 600 had attempted to. An Israeli and Egyptian blockade of Gaza, tough living conditions and a lack of freedom of expression under Hamas rule are believed to be factors.
