Eden Research receives authorisation for crop protection product Cedroz in Greece

Sustainable biopesticides specialist Eden Research PLC (LON:EDEN) said commercial partner Eastman Chemical Company had received authorisation to sell the firms Cedroz product in Greece – marking its entry to the first of its key EU markets.

The country is important for the commercialisation of the terpene-based nematicide, with fruit and vegetable crops accounting for 18.8% of total agriculture production, Eden said.

Sign-off includes the use of Cedroz on tomatoes, strawberries, aubergine, peppers, okra, cucumber, zucchini, pumpkin, melon and watermelon both indoors and outdoors.

Demand for the product stems from it being residue-free and having a zero-day pre-harvest interval, which allows for its application right up to harvest.

It will be sold by a regional distributor, K&N Efthymiadis (KNE).

Edens chief executive Sean Smith pointed out the annual production of tomatoes in Greece alone is around 600,000 tonnes, “making it an attractive proposition” for KNE.
