Eastenders actor Maisie Smith is due to toe-tap her way through the final of Strictly Come Dancing this evening. This evening she is due to dance the Samba with her partner Gorka Marquez.
Moves like the ones she has been performing throughout the show take both fitness and endurance.
Luckily, ahead of the BBC One competition the 19-year-old star hit the gym to transform her fitness.
Throughout her journey, Maisie posted pictures of her impressive abs and bulging biceps when training in the gym.
She captioned one picture stating: “Your girl is on a mission.”
But how did the starlet ramp up her health and fitness before she put on her dancing shoes?
Maisie first began to focus on her fitness aged just 16 years old.
In 2017 she launched an online workout programme called Results 4 Teens.
At the time she cited a love of yoga and a goal to get “stronger”.
The programme was aimed at helping to educate young people about fitness, mindset and nutrition.
These are all things she believes are an integral part of her journey to a healthier lifestyle.
“I have always loved keeping active, especially with yoga,” she said in an interview at the time.
“Last year I met Cecilia Harris (celebrity PT) on holiday in Spain and we got chatting about ways I could get stronger and fitter.
“It all started with a couple of training sessions that I posted on Instagram which got hundreds of comments.
“It was then I realised that so many teens struggle with not only how to keep fit but also the confidence to join in group classes sometimes!”
Ever since then the Tiffany Butcher actor has been passionate about increasing her strength with gym workouts.
However, during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, she switched to weight lifting at home while following workout videos.
Maisie posted images and video9s of herself on Instagram following the Results with Lucy exercise programme from Lucy Mecklenburgh.
She has also shared TikTok videos of herself performing various hip hop style dances.
The star has a history of dancing behind her, having won the Glitterball trophy during a Children in Need Special last year.
She danced alongside partner Kevin Clifton in order to reach success.
