A London man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car was driven at a group of people, leaving one victim with a serious leg injury.
Essex Police were called in the early hours of Sunday (October 3) morning after reports of a disturbance at Festival Leisure Park, a popular social spot with nightclubs, cinema and bars in Basildon.
When officers arrived the suspect had fled the scene and a search of the area was quickly carried out to find the 25-year-old man.
Along with support from the Essex Police Dog Unit, the suspect was caught and also arrested for dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
Police confirmed that one man was was rushed to hospital for treatment following the emergency and the suspect remains in custody.
In a statement Essex Police wrote: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car was driven at a group of people in Basildon.
“We were called to the disturbance at Festival Leisure Park at about 4.30am this morning.”
The police have launched a witness appeal for anyone with footage from dash cam or mobile phones to come forward.
