The latest data released from Public Health England shows a steady rise in cases locally, but the capital actually remains extremely low when compared to infection levels across the country.
London has some of the lowest case rates despite a continued rise this week, and of the 377 local areas in the UK, 292 (77%) have seen a week-on-week rise in rates.
The updated Covid-19 case rates for every local authority area in the UK are accurate for the seven days to October 18, and are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.
The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
Bexley
The Covid rate in Bexley has risen from 224.2 (559 cases) to 277.6 (692 cases).
Bromley
In Bromley, the rate is 281.9 (938 cases), having risen from 241.6 (804 cases).
Greenwich
The rate in Greenwich is 239.4 (692 cases), having risen from 207.6 (601 cases) the week prior.
Lewisham
Lewisham has a rate of 196.8 (601 cases) which has risen from 172.3 (526 cases).
Southwark
In Southwark, the coronavirus case rate has risen from 130.0 (416 cases) to 160.0 (416 cases), one of the lowest rates in the country.
Nearby
Nearby in Dartford, cases have risen sharply from a rate of 333.2 (380 cases) to 466.5 (532 cases).
In Croydon, the case rate has risen to 247.8 (963 cases) from 213.6 (830 cases).
In the UK, Blaenau Gwent in Wales continues to have the highest rate with 919 new cases in the seven days to October 18 – the equivalent of 1,312.5 per 100,000 people.
This is up sharply from 371.3 in the seven days to October 11.
Cheltenham in Gloucestershire has the second highest rate, up from 180.1 to 1,304.7, with 1,514 new cases.
Stroud in Gloucestershire has the third highest rate, up from 189.4 to 1,224.1, with 1,480 new cases.
Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon has the highest rate in Northern Ireland (588.3) and Clackmannanshire has the highest rate in Scotland (495.2).
The list has been calculated by the PA news agency using data published on October 22 on the Government’s coronavirus dashboard.
