The role of robotics becomes important to use in the health industry due to their ability to perform many tasks without exposing healthcare workers to pathogens. Moreover, they can reduce the burden on medical professionals and allow them to focus on patient care. In healthcare, robotics is used for tasks such as reducing the number of surgeries performed by hand, streamlining supply delivery and disinfection, and assisting doctors with diagnostic procedures, like MRIs and X-rays.

Surgical robots help physicians make minimal incisions, while keeping them in control at all times. They can even change the position of a patient before starting treatment, which improves accuracy and reduces damage to surrounding tissue.

Other types of healthcare robots include telemedicine robots that allow patients to consult with their doctor via videoconferencing from remote locations. They can also track a patient’s progress during rehabilitation, such as with wearable exoskeleton or prosthetic robotic arms and legs that help people with paralysis, spinal cord injuries, and multiple sclerosis.

Logistics/delivery robots can transport a large number of items, including meals, linen, laboratory samples, medications, and other supplies around the hospital. In this way, they can significantly improve the efficiency of hospitals’ logistics operations.
