Alex Jones has opened up about the heartbreaking miscarriage she suffered in 2017 – admitting she appeared on The One Show just an hour after discovering the news.
The 42-year-old, who is expecting her second child with husband Charlie Thomson, admitted the loss “hit her like a ton of bricks”.
“We learnt the baby didnt have a heartbeat. I was around 14 weeks, which is a decent amount of time,” she told The Telegraphs Stella magazine.
“The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a ton of bricks.”
Alex first discovered she was pregnant just 10 months after welcoming her first child, two-year-old Teddy, during a family holiday to New Zealand.
After being “bowled over” by the “unexpected” news, the couple attended a routine scan back in the UK a few weeks later to establish the babys due date, when they received the tragic news.
Alex added, Its really odd. Youre in that room looking for answers that youre never going to get. Youre thinking, “Have I done something wrong? What did I do differently? Was it because we flew a long way? Was I too stressed? Was I putting too much pressure on myself?”
But despite her heartbreak, Alex says she insisted on going back to work on The One Show the same day, despite her boss pleading with her to take some time off.
“I said, What else am I going to do? Its a horrible feeling because it is so empty. Theres nothing to say. Its done.”
