FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling a huge blaze that broke out on an industrial estate in Acton, west London.

Pictures on social media showed thick smoke billowing from the inferno at around 2.49am this morning. The fire broke out in a laundry unit on the Park Royal industrial estate just north of the main A40 into London.

The fire has engulfed a number of properties on the vast industrial estate.

London Fire Brigade said its crews had made “steady progress” tackling the blaze.

Crews were called at 2.19am, with firefighters from Park Royal, Acton, North Kensington, Ealing, Chiswick, Wembley and other stations racing to the scene.

London Fire Brigade said: “Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters have been called to a fire on Sunbeam Road in Park Royal.

“A range of single-storey industrial units are alight. The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have taken 13 calls to the blaze.

“The Brigade was called at 0219. Fire crews from Park Royal, Acton, North Kensington, Ealing, Chiswick, Wembley and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”

In its latest update, London Fire Brigade said: “The fire at a laundry unit in Park Royal is now under control but crews will remain on scene throughout the morning damping down.

“There are no reports of any injuries.

“Local road closures are in place and there is likely to be disruption.”

It is the second serious fire to hit the busy industrial estate this week.

On MondayfFour fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze at on nearby Brent Crescent.

Part of a store room on the ground floor of a two-storey industrial unit containing batteries was alight.

Firefighters had to remove around 100 batteries to open air in a bid to control the blaze.

A 25 metre cordon was put in place as a precaution whilst crews work to make the scene safe.
