Market Now: BSE Smallcap index down; Gujarat NRE Coke, Gitanjali Gems among top drags

NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.19 per cent down at 18,056 around 11 am (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Gujarat NRE Coke (down 6.73 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), Gitanjali Gems (down 4.90 per cent), Electrosteel Steels (down 4.75 per cent), Flexituff International (down 4.55 per cent), Rollatainers (down 4.53 per cent), Lanco Infratech (down 4.51 per cent), Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network (down 4.27 per cent), Lakshmi Vilas Bank (down 4.22 per cent), Gammon India (down 4.15 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (down 4.12 per cent), KSK Energy Ventures (down 3.54 per cent) were among the top losers in the smallcap index.

On the other hand, shares of Deccan Gold Mines (up 5.83 per cent), Tanla Solutions (up 5.68 per cent), Dynamatic Technologies (up 5.58 per cent), Graphite India (up 4.99 per cent), Network 18 Media & Investments (up 4.22 per cent), Merck (up 4.22 per cent), DB Corp (up 3.96 per cent), Agarwal Industrial Corporation (up 3.96 per cent), Symphony (up 3.80 per cent), Intrasoft Technologies (up 3.65 per cent), TV18 Broadcast (up 3.62 per cent) and TV Today Network (up 3.59 per cent) were among the gainers in the index.

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 turned cautious today as investors await key macroeconomic data due later in the day, amid a weak trend in other Asian markets.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 55 points at 10,499, while the BSE Sensex was 158 points down at 34,188.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.
