As snow continues to cover large parts of Britain many of us are expecting the snowy weather to strike again this Easter.

The heavy snow has seen the Met Office upgrade the weather warning to red alert today and new odds suggest we won’t see the end of the cold weather any time soon.

Betting site Oddschecker has reported bookies receiving a flurry of bets on a white Easter as the cold weather causes travel problems and school closures across the UK today.

Around 56% of all bets placed today have been made on whether we will see a snowy Easter in the captiial and it has seen the odds in London cut from 25/1 to 20/1.

Glasgow is currently the favourite to see snow during the Easter period with odds as low as 8/1 for the Scottish city and it is followed by Edinburgh which is currently 10/1.

Easter Sunday won’t be until 1st April which means that there is still over four weeks to go, but the sudden snowy weather has prompted some people to expect the worst.

An Oddschecker spokesperson said ‘The SSW increases the chance of arctic blasts pushing south making it not at all beyond the realms of possibility that the capital will see snow on Easter Sunday this year.”

‘The Beast of the East could become the Beaster of Easter, and bookies are constantly keeping an eye as the weather worsens.’

What are the current odds of a white Easter?

Glasgow – 8/1

Edinburgh – 10/1

Belfast – 14/1

Manchester 16/1

Birmingham – 20/1

London – 20/1

Cardiff – 33/1
