Schools across Scotland are set to remain closed again today as part of the country remains under a red weather warning.

Thousands of students, pupils and staff are unable to get into schools, colleges and universities as a result of the inclement weather.

People are being urged not to travel after many road users were left stranded in their vehicles overnight because of the difficult conditions.

British Red Cross emergency response volunteers in Glasgow were supplying bedding for up to 100 people in case they were stranded overnight.

To find out if your school is closed, you can search the postcode of the school at this site.

Alternatively you can take a look at which schools are closing by area:

Transport Minister Humza Yousaf hit out at motorists who were using commuter routes on Wednesday, despite advice not to.

Many road users had been left stranded in their vehicles due to the difficult conditions.

He tweeted: ‘Looking at live traffic cameras & still seeing far too much traffic on trunk road network.

‘Can I reiterate, if you travel you’re putting yourself at risk and possibly in danger. Don’t take weather warnings lightly.’

More than 400 schools across Scotland have been forced to shut as the country gets braced for snow with potentially the highest level of warning from forecasters.

Transport Minister Humza Yousaf said amber alerts for snow and freezing winds from the early hours of Wednesday could be changed to red for extreme weather in certain areas, with motorists urged not to travel.
