Coronation Street actor William “Bill” Roache has been dealt a huge family tragedy recently, as it’s been reported that his daughter, Vanya Roache, has died.

The actor, who has played Ken Barlow for almost 60 years, has not officially confirmed the news in a statement. However, it’s thought that she passed away last week.

Her partner Toby has now also confirmed that Vanya passed away as a result of liver failure.

He told press, “Vanya was a nice person, a lovely person.

“It was a liver failure that she died of, it happened very quickly. But I don’t really want to talk about it, we’re very private people.”

According to The Sun, 85-year-old Bill has been left “utterly heartbroken” at the news of his daughter’s death, who was just 50 years old.

It’s said that Bill will also be taking compassionate leave from the soap in which he’s made his name for an indefinite amount of time.

Sadly, it’s the third heartbreaking loss the actor has experienced in his life.

In 1983, he and his second wife Sara lost their 18-month-old daughter, Edwina. And in 2009, Sara, his wife of 38 years, also passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 60.

Speaking about the loss afterwards, Bill explained that there was no apparent reason for her passing.

“There was no ailment, no stroke, no heart attack or blood clot, nothing like that. There was no structural failure, no disease nothing wrong other than the electrical impulse to the heart stopped and they didn’t know why. She just went.”

A source speaking to The Sun has explained that there is as yet no news on when Bill might return to the cobbles as Ken Barlow following Vanya’s death.

They said, “Bill is utterly heartbroken. No father should have to go through the loss of a child, let alone two.

“After hearing the news on Friday he’s been told to take as long as required. There’s no word just yet on when he’ll return.”

It’s said that Vanya is leaving behind her fiance, Toby, who she lived with in Sussex.

All our thoughts are with Bill and his family at this difficult time.
