Countryfile and BBC presenter Helen Skelton has admitted a man ‘grabbed [her] on the a**e’ while she was interviewing him at a sporting event in 2014.

Shocked by what occurred Helen clearly knew it was inappropriate but admitted she didn’t really know what to do next.

Speaking about the incident, the mum-of-two said: “I felt really awkward about it. I was pregnant as well. I didn’t know what to do.”

Speaking to The Telegraph she said she found it hard to come forward and talk about the incident because of the industry she us in

“It’s intimidating and you don’t want to be the person who is being difficult and awkward. That’s just the culture that television breeds. No one wants to be difficult. You want to bring solutions, not problems. We are all ‘happy, happy…’”

Helen – who is married to Leeds Rhinos rugby league star Richie Myler, has not admitted when the incident happened or what programme she was presenting. But she said it was in fact fellow presenter Colin Murray who raised the issue ensuring that the man who groped her was punished.

“[Colin] kicked off and said that needs dealing with,” she said. “It was handled brilliantly because of that. I’d never thought about complaining. I don’t want it to become my identity. The man in question was punished. There was a line drawn under it, and that was that.”

Good on you and good on Colin, that’s what we say.

Following her interview many of her fans have rushed to support her. Taking to Twitter they wrote:

While others offered a series of the ‘applauding’ emojis.

Others praised her colleague, Colin for not letting the matter be dismissed.

Helen found fame on Blue Peter which she began presenting in 2008. She then went on to be a host on the BBCs Countryfile and now presents all swimming coverage on the BBC.
