Twitter DOWN: Social media login offline for THOUSANDS in UK and around the world
Twitter is currently down, with thousands of users complaining of the social media site being offline.
Independent website Down Detector has received a surge of Twitter down reports over the last hour or so – indicating there is a wide problem with the social media network.
Down Detector is an independent website which tracks outages across the globe by monitoring social mentions around specific topics.
Within minutes, Down Detector saw over 587 reports of the site being down logged.
45% of those reports come from the Android app, whilst 35% come directly from Twitter's website. iOS and iPad reports form another 20% of the outage reports.
This isn't the first time Twitter has gone down in recent days: the last time the social media network went offline was on April 12, and before that on April 8.
There appears to be a consistent issue with the platform.

The Down Detector outage map has shown today's issues are not isolated, with Twitter users in the UK, US and Europe all reporting problems with the service.
This isn't the first time that Twitter has gone down in 2018 – and it likely won't be the biggest, either.
In January the social networking site went down for thousands of users, with Down Detector hitting a peak of over 6,000 reported issues with the service.
Today, one user on Down Detector stated: "TWITTER IS DOWN… THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD"
Another has said: "Not sure this is Twitters fault", whilst another commenter notes "Was panicking I'd lost my account. Phew. Not just me."
We're still waiting for a formal update from the company.
