Two London-based digital companies have been recognised as the best examples of innovative companies which are changing peoples lives and transforming the markets.

What3words and digi.me were last night selected as the winners of international law firm Bird & Birds Digital Innovators 2018, in association with City A.M.

Digi.me, which helps users control who has access to their personal data, won in the life changer category.

“Its good that the very simple idea about individuals owning their data is being recognised”, Andrew Carmody, chief strategy officer of digi.me, said. “More importantly, consumers are coming round to that idea.”

What3words, a navigation company whose system divides the world into 3m by 3m squares and gives each one a unique three word address, won the market transformer category.

The company is attempting to make location finding easier, which has applications from drone deliveries to search and rescue operations.

“This is a fantastic platform to help spread the word and get three word addresses to people who need it most in the world”, Giles Rhys Jones, chief marketing officer of what3words, said.
