Sally Lindsay has rarely been off our screens since she starred as Coronation Streets Shelley Unwin, going on to land roles in Mount Pleasant and Scott & Bailey.
But off screen, Sally, 44, lives with her husband Steve White and seven-year-old twin sons, Victor and Louie. Here, she reveals all about Corrie, motherhood – and why shes always mistaken for another famous face!
“Being a mum is ace, its the best thing Ive ever done, but its rock hard as well. Youre making it up every day because you dont really know what youre doing, but then you do. Ive got brilliant kids, Im so lucky. Theyre really funny little boys. Theyre best friends one minute and then hate each other the next!”
“Steve and I do the parenting together – we do it 50-50. Stevell not work one week and Ill not work another, but we manage to get round it. Well have a diary check every Friday – its organisation!”
“Women want to watch women who look like them – not this unachievable look. Because on telly, youre a stone heavier than you are in real life, but Ive a belief that I am who I am, and thats it. You do sometimes think, “Oh God, look at the state of me!” but thats who I am and thats what the part dictates.”
“Ive noticed I dont pick as much at food now as Im a terrible picker, especially when Im writing. And because Ive got seven-year-old boys , its terrible – like no-one will notice if I have another bit of Easter egg! Instead, Ive started putting more fibre in our diets recently, using brown pasta, rice and bread. It does genuinely keep you fuller for longer.”
“I get mistaken for Jo Joyner all the time and I dont know why! When we go to awards, theyll see my eyebrows and my face and Ill go over to sign something, and theyll go, Oh, youre not Jo Joyner! and shes had it the other way round.”
“Id never go back to Corrie. Theres no need to really, is there? I loved it, it was brilliant, but I did it, and I did it really well, but it was a long time ago. I probably wouldve gone back by now.”
