Amanda Holden has opened up about the heartbreaking stillbirth of her son seven years ago.

In an emotional interview to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS, the Britains Got Talent judge revealed the devastating impact losing baby Theo had on her and her husband Chris Hughes.

Speaking to ITVs Tonight programme, Amanda recalled: “I just remember hearing this woman just screaming and screaming and then it was actually — it was me, I realised it was me that was screaming.”

Amanda – who had miscarried another little boy at 16 weeks just a year before her stillbirth – said she was left terrified when she was given the news that Theos heart had stopped beating at seven months.

“It was the most surreal, out-of-body experience and I was actually calling my daughters name because I was just terrified about what to tell Lexi at the time.”

Opening up about the last moment she shared with her son, the 47-year-old broke down in tears, as she said: “He looked so normal and so peaceful.

“I held him in my arms and I said goodbye, basically.”

The presenter has previously admitted that she desperately wanted a sibling for daughter Lexi, 12, and quickly fell pregnant with daughter Hollie, 6, in 2011.

Amanda – who married Chris in 2008 – then went on to credit the NHS for getting her through the heart-wrenching time.

“But I couldnt have done it without the incredible team around us”, she said.

“My husband was so strong and so amazing but they got him through it too.

“And then the days and months afterwards, the same team of people checked on us every single day and its not because Im off the telly or famous or anything like that. I believe theyd have extended that care to any woman.”

She then said little Theo will always be part of the family, adding: “Ill literally do anything for the National Health Service because they got me through it, they got Chris through it and I now thankfully have two healthy girls and a little boy who is still part of the family but just not here.”
