Rejoice everyone, Instagram is going to have a more chronological feed just like in the old days.

The picture sharing app announced it would be making changes that ensured newer posts were more likely to appear first.

On top of this it also revealed a ‘New Posts’ button that allowed users to choose when the page refreshed rather than it being automatically.

Currently posts appear based on what Instagram thinks you like the most.

‘Today we’re introducing changes to give you more control over your feed and ensure the posts you see are timely,’ a statement from the social media app said.

‘We’ve heard it can feel unexpected when your feed refreshes and automatically bumps you to the top.

‘So today we’re testing a “New Posts” button that lets you choose when you want to refresh, rather than it happening automatically.

‘Tap the button and you’ll be taken to new posts at the top of feed — don’t tap, and you’ll stay where you are. We hope this makes browsing Instagram much more enjoyable.’

Instagram said it would be sharing more details about the improvements to its feed in the upcoming months.

It made the changes after users complained about their timelines but those hoping to completely go back to the chronological feed will be disappointed as this is not going to happen.
