Sony announced strong results for 2017 today, as net income came in at just under ¥380bn (£2.5bn), almost seven times the amount the company reported last year.
The company's results can be put down to successes in Game & Network Services, which brought in operating income of ¥177.5bn Yen, and its Music business, which made ¥127.8bn (£841m).
Sales for the Playstation 4 and its software, and the increase in subscribers to PlaystationPlus were responsible for the jump in profits, up from ¥135.6bn (£893m) in 2016.
Sony Pictures, the Japanese firm's movie arm responsible for last year's box office success Spiderman: Homecoming, had operating profits of ¥41.1bn (£270m).
