The first item of Princess Diana’s the Duchess of Sussex was seen wearing was the stunning aquamarine and diamond ring. The ring was bought by Diana after her divorce from Prince Charles.
She was often seen wearing it on her ring finger after she stopped wearing her blue sapphire engagement ring from the prince.
She has also worn Princess Diana‘s butterfly earrings and gold a cabochon sapphire.
Recently, in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess wore a Cartier tennis bracelet, said to have been inherited from Princess Diana.
This is now thought to be the bracelet Harry took stones from to make Meghan‘s bespoke engagement ring.
Fans of the late Princess of Wales may be hoping to see more of her iconic jewels on the Duchess of Sussex. Has she inherited more?
Jewellery expert Charlotte White, head of design at 77 Diamonds, does not believe Meghan has inherited any other jewellery than the pieces mentioned above.
She told Express.co.uk exclusively: “Given Meghan’s readiness to embrace Diana’s legacy and fondness for some of her pieces, it is a difficult question whether Meghan has inherited anything else from Diana.
“On the one hand, she has not publicly displayed reluctance to use her late mother-in-law’s pieces.
“On the other hand, the low number of pieces worn and the fact that most of them have been spotted on many occasions suggests that these are the only ones she has inherited, hence why she would reuse them.”
She went on: “Another consideration which suggests that Meghan has not inherited more pieces is that Harry allegedly took diamonds from Diana’s Cartier tennis bracelet to add to Meghan’s engagement ring.
“Meghan was wearing this same bracelet during the recent Oprah interview.
“My estimate is that Meghan has not inherited any pieces from Diana other than the pieces mentioned.
“However, it is possible there are some items which she simply hasn’t worn yet, and if there is a protocol for this within the Royal Family, she may inherit something else in the future.”
While Diana left her jewellery to her sons, it is not clear what capacity this is on and so who would be in possession of them now.
Kate Middleton, too, has worn many pieces once belonging to Princess Diana.
She has inherited sapphire earrings, which the Duchess of Cambridge adapted into smaller pieces she often wears to events.
Kate has also inherited Diana’s Cartier French Tank, although she more often wears her Ballon Bleu piece from the brand.
Most iconically, Kate wears Princess Diana’s engagement ring from Charles as her own engagement ring.
Additionally, Kate often wears pieces from the Queen’s collection, including precious state gifts and items with special significance, which have been in the family for generations.
These include the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, a platinum and pearl diadem Diana often wore.
